Blog nerd

Most of you know that I’m a ‘blog nerd’ for blogging every single day — publishing a new post every single day.  I’ve been doing so for pretty much 2-3 years (so far the newest record is blogging daily for 137 days/4 months 15 days — from April 21, 2016 until now).  I hit a realization recently.  I’m done my backlog.  I no longer have restaurant reviews lining up for me to post.  In terms of recent backlog, that’s done.  But I still have a lot of travel posts that I drafted up, intending to be posted with photos to share….  that I wanted to keep posting because I wanted to finish THAT backlog.  But today, I realize I don’t want to do that anymore…   Continue reading

Baskin Robbins (Markham)

Baskin Robbins Ice cream cones

Baskin Robbins located at Cachet Centre at 9255 Woodbine Avenue, Unit 22 in Markham

This is going to be a super low-key blog post.  I haven’t been to Baskin Robbins for ice cream for many years (I remember enjoying a wonderful ice cream cake from them when I was a child).  They’re a popular ice cream parlour franchise that has been around for many decades all around Canada and the United States.  Almost everyone knows them by name!    Continue reading

There is a brand new Thai ice cream rolls shop in Scarborough called QQ Thai Ice Cream!  This past Wednesday, Sweven Media held a preview media event for some local foodies to allow us to try their ice cream rolls and so I had the pleasure to try them out.

QQ Thai Ice Cream is located at 3278 Midland Ave. at Unit D117 near Midland and Finch Avenue in Scarborough.   Continue reading

Weekly Photo Challenges: Mirror

reflection in a funky mirror

CNE, Toronto. September 2010

The Canadian National Exhibition is an annual unofficial ‘end of summer’ event where millions of Torontonians and visitors at the Exhibition Place go for carnie rides and outrageous food.  This photo is a flashback to the summer of 2010 when I attended CNE again for the first time in a long while and I saw these crazy fun mirrors where it distorts your reflection to induce lots of giggles and funny faces.   Continue reading

Cool N2 Liquid Nitrogen Ice Cream

Cool N2 Ice Cream located at 28 South Unionville Avenue, Suite 1036 in Markham

The newest and latest dessert trend has come out of Taiwan to debut in Markham called Cool N2, serving liquid nitrogen ice cream.  Cool N2 Ice Cream (“N2” for Nitrogen) is located near Langham Square on Kennedy south of Highway 7 where ZenQ, Morals Village Hot Pot, and Cha Me Cha Markham are (it’s outside the mall).

When Priscilla and I walked in at about 9 p.m. on a Monday, there were some customers enjoying this brand new ice cream standing around the counter.   Continue reading

Thoughts you have when you wake up from a herd mentality

It’s only after waking up when you realize how stupid these quotes sound when you share it for the sake of being an “entrepreneur”.

In my opinion, a real “entrepreneur” doesn’t actually call him or herself an entrepreneur.  Someone who is actually out there, creating their own product and brand from scratch, works so hard that all they share is their progress or their product to people who ask.  “Hey, what do you do?” “I sell homemade cupcakes” or “I design Snapchat filters”.  You don’t really hear of Continue reading

Moji Japanese Eatery

Moji Japanese Eatery

Moji Japanese Eatery located at 8362 Kennedy Road Unit A6 in Markham

Moji Japanese Eatery is one of the newer Japanese restaurants to hit Markham and has been making waves and beckoning people (like me) to go and try their food.  I wonder what their name, Moji, means?  It actually reminds me of “emoji” just now. XD

Moji Japanese Eatery is located near New Kennedy Plaza (or Peachtree Centre) among the pack of restaurants.  There was lots of parking available on the lot and I was the first one to walk in at 6 p.m. on a Monday evening.   Continue reading

Canada’s 3rd Annual Coconut Festival & Marketplace 2016

Canada’s 3rd Annual Coconut Festival & Marketplace 2016 located at David Pecaut Square

I had the pleasure to be invited to the 3rd Annual Coconut Festival & Marketplace this year by Mark to sample various foods and products from this popular coconut festival.

“Coconut Festival Canada produces the event to connect all communities to learn about the coconuts’ various health benefits & diverse addictive delicious culinary and lifestyle uses with the addition of a Book Drive for an orphanage partner in the Philippines.”  (Quoted from their website.)

Platito Filipino Soul Food Ube waffles with ice cream

Platito Filipino Soul Food located at 35 Baldwin Street in Toronto

For Aileen’s reunion get-together this past weekend, a group of us met up at Platito Filipino Soul Food for dinner.  Reservations were set at 7:30 p.m. for 15 people (despite some difficulty booking one table for everyone to sit together by Patricia but it worked out in the end) but we didn’t start ordering food until 8:30 p.m. or so (you know how it is with big groups).   Continue reading
