Day 2 of September Detox at Zoup! [Defunct]

Located at 1383 16th Ave in Richmond Hill

This is my second time doing the Nutriclean detox and I’m going to have more fun this time around than the first time.  If you don’t know what a detox is, it’s a week where you eat clean in order to allow your body to cleanse out the gunk that’s in your system and to allow your liver and colon to rest up on digesting the usual heavy carbs and red meat.   Continue reading

September Detox — Day 1!

Day 1 of detox

Hi everybody!  I’m participating in a 7-day detox again with Nutriclean.  This means that for the next 7 days, I’ll be eating clean — no processed food, red meat, excessive sugar, oil, salt, alcohol, and carbs.  In the last detox that I did with friends (it was my first detox), I did the intense version where absolutely no meat was allowed.   Continue reading

Yuk Yuk’s Toronto Stand-up Comedy

Located at 224 Richmond Street West in Toronto

Betty and I had never been to a Yuk Yuk’s stand up comedy show before so when I saw the deal come on at Groupon, we decided to try it out (buy two for the price of one deal AND I got paid to buy it!).  Our Groupon was going to expire at the first of September, so we finally managed to find a time where our busy schedules freed us up to watch a show.   Continue reading

My ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

ALS Ice Bucket Challenge — I did it.

I know, I know, there’s been a ton of controversy surrounding this particular charity phenomenon that’s been going viral around the globe.  Here are my thoughts around this activity:

First of all, this is for charity.  Anything that people do for charity, other than just standing on the street to canvas for donations, will be something out of the ordinary (even that can be called extraordinary).   Continue reading

Weekly Photo Challenge: Humanity

My very first Relay for Life event, Esther Shiner Stadium.  June 2009

The sample photos chosen for this week’s photo challenge for “humanity” rub me the wrong way.  The writer selected photos of people in Ethiopia and quoted, “I met this woman in southern Ethiopia at Project Mercy, a not-for-profit relief and development agency working to alleviate human suffering and poverty in the country. Her pride at her handiwork was evident.”   Continue reading

Darryl’s Wood Fired Grill in Greensboro

Darryl's Wood Fired Grill dessert

Darryl’s Wood Fired Grill located at 3300 High Point Rd in Greensboro, NC

On the second last day before we left Greensboro, we all decided to go out for a lovely dinner at Darryl’s Wood Fired Grill.  We were a big group of more than 20 and had to wait a little bit of time before the host called us.  Since we were such a big group, we ended up splitting up into three tables but they made sure to put us in the same area so it was like we were still eating together which was nice.

Smokey Bones Bar & Fire Grill

Located at 3302 High Pt Rd in Greensboro

Smokey Bones Bar & Fire Grill is really disappointing.  I would suggest going to the other restaurants like Darryl’s which is across the street.  When we arrived, we were a huge group of 18 and were told that we wouldn’t be able to get a table for another 45 minutes to an hour.  We decided against waiting for that long for a table so some of us decided to get take-out instead since getting take-out means getting the food faster.   Continue reading

Road Trip to Greensboro and MAIC 2014!

The road trip that changed lives — August 6-11, 2014

At the beginning of August, hundreds of young, ambitious, hardworking, kind-hearted, and energetic individuals boarded eight buses to go on a 14-hour road trip to a little-known city in North Carolina — Greensboro.  This was my second convention to learn more about new technologies and how to take control of my own economy but the very first road trip where I’ve travelled with 50 other friends on a tour bus together.   Continue reading

Lohas Cafe [Defunct]

Located at 3255 Highway 7 East, Unit 19 in Markham

Tracy and I met up at Lohas Cafe to chat and catch up recently.  I had originally wanted to visit Lambie Bubble Tea since I really liked the environment and food there, but to my surprise, we discovered that it was closed down.  What!  That place was such a nice place for food and casual chats.  Luckily, since First Markham Place has shops and restaurants around every corner, we decided to go into Lohas Cafe instead.   Continue reading

Aragvi Restaurant’s new location in Vaughan

Aragvi located at 2006 Highway 7 in Vaughan

I had the pleasure of being invited to dine at Aragvi Restaurant again for the opening of their brand new location in Vaughan.  Remember when I first stepped into Aragvi in my first blog post review of them and commented that they serve delicious food but reside in an area that doesn’t look that nice?  Well, this new location is big and cozy and definitely an improvement from their old location.   Continue reading
