Cafe Bon Bon in Tai Kok Tsui
January 17, 2019:
We had actually attempted to dine at this restaurant called 車品品 (Cafe Bon Bon) three times before we finally were able to try it. (The first time had a long line-up which we didn’t want to wait for. The second and third times were when it was closed on Mondays.)
Apparently they were advertised in the travel booklet for having $52 HKD abalone (around $8 – 9 CAD) and good imitation shark fin soups.
Soup Noodles at 蝦妹記
January 17, 2019:
Another little noodle shop! 😀 The first time we passed by this small corner shop called 蝦妹記 front of a crosswalk, it was packed with people and some more were waiting outside. The advertisements outside showed $24 HKD noodles which was so cheap!
Dinner at Maxim’s Palace (Sha Tin)
January 16, 2019:
We had dinner at Maxim’s Palace (美心集團). The last time I was here was also for dinner and dim sum back in the autumn of 2016. The place hadn’t changed at all. It’s one of the biggest restaurants I can recall dining in while in Hong Kong. The space is akin to the area at the old Red Ruby restaurant in Toronto. Their rent must be astronomical considering every inch of Hong Kong is so valuable.

Trusty Congee King at MOSTown
January 16, 2019:
Dropped by Trusty Congee King (靠得住粥麵小館) after noticing the advert for it in the MOSTown shopping mall. It was apparently a Michelin Star restaurant.
We arrived at 4:50 p.m. just in time to take advantage of their afternoon tea special. It was a nicely designed and chic-looking Chinese restaurant inside of the mall. Upon closer inspection, their placemat signified another location as the Michelin Star restaurant and not this location I was at.
Green River Restaurant in Mong Kok
January 15, 2019:
We dropped by Green River Restaurant (翠河餐廳) (apparently one of many branches — this one at the Mong Kok location across from Langham Place). It is a two-storey restaurant and open 24 hours.
(The name of this restaurant makes me think of the song “Moon River”. I can’t help but sing the first few verses of the song’s chorus in my head when I see this name. XD)
We went inside and after telling them our party number, decided to head upstairs to there were more seats. The first floor space only had a couple of booth seats.

Vegetarian Buffet at My Meat Run Buddy
January 14, 2019:
I really love exploring new vegetarian restaurants these days. Thus, we checked out “My Meat Run Buddy”, a direct translation of the words “走肉朋友” which is a pun in Chinese. It was a vegetarian all-you-can-eat buffet and they had good online ratings. One of the reviews mentioned a 90-minute dining time only though.

Hing Noodle in Tai Kok Tsui
January 14, 2019:
We came to Hing Noodle (慶麵) for lunch. It’s an award-winning noodle shop that also features saliva chicken and pepper pork buns.
There were lots of people crowding around the doorway when we first arrived that I mistakened it as a line-up. It turned out they were just reading the menu outside the restaurant. Once they piled into the restaurant, we did too.
Dinner at Nanjing Impressions in Shen Zhen, China
January 13, 2019:
For dinner in Shen Zhen, my relatives brought us to Nanjing Impressions, a restaurant inside KK Mall. They had been here a few times before and recommended it due to the good quality and variety of food. Apparently, it gets very packed here by 6 and 7 p.m., prime dinner time, and the wait is up to two hours. To avoid having to wait, we arrived at Nanjing Impressions at 4:30 p.m. to get a table for seven.
