Chef’s Choice Dinner at DaiLo

Located at 503 College St in Toronto

On a sunny but a little chilly spring night, four of us visited DaiLo for a delicious and satisfying fusion French and Chinese dinner.  I had heard lots about this restaurant, residing on College Street near Bathurst in Toronto, but didn’t have the chance to visit until now.  What a treat it was for us as we left very satisfied with our tummies full and our taste buds dancing.

DaiLo is a two character phrase in Chinese that means “big boss”.  Funnily enough, we decided to let the “big boss” of the restaurant decide our eating choices for the night.   Continue reading

Dinner at Thoroughbred Food & Drink [Defunct]

Located at 304 Richmond Street West in Toronto

Since we weren’t able to get a dinner reservation at Copacabana (Adelaide location), I rescheduled us to still have dinner downtown at our preset dinner time.  Since Urbanspoon recently shut down on June 1, 2015 and switched over to Zomato, I had trouble locating my bookmarked lists and resorted to using the not-so-friendly-or-easy-to-use-tools on Zomato to do some restaurant searching.   Continue reading

Big Jack’s Burger Shop [Defunct]

Located at 8384 Woodbine Avenue in Markham

Having a prominent and bright sign in a middle of a busy street still works as effective advertising to catch potential customers’ eyes nowadays.  That’s how I decided on coming to Big Jack’s Burger Shop with Jessica for lunch one day.  I had noticed this long-time burger shop on Woodbine Avenue in Markham for a while and always was curious how they managed to stay in business despite not a lot of word being said about them on the street.   Continue reading

Sushi Club!

Located at 41 Charles St W in Toronto

One of my favourite sushi spots is Sushi Club!  When I was in university, I frequented this small restaurant on Charles Street in downtown Toronto numerous, numerous times!  It was our go-to spot, especially for my teacher’s college friends and I.  It was close to campus, had delicious rolls and sushi, affordable lunch menus, and was a great intimate hang-out spot for us.   Continue reading

Weekly Photo Challenge: Vivid

Hong Kong Ocean Park. December 2011

When I saw the theme and featured picture for this week’s challenge, I realized that I’ve never been to a big outdoor festival or summer gathering before.  The biggest “one” I can think of is probably when I went to frosh and we had a summer-ish concert on the last day.   Continue reading

Board Games for Nepal!

Playing board games for Nepal

Located at 8425 Woodbine Avenue in Markham

For Buddha’s birthday this year, we decided on eating a vegetarian lunch after we visited the temple (naturally).  We went to Wutai Vegetarian Restaurant, which is located on Woodbine Avenue south of Highway 7 in Markham.  I knew of this restaurant’s existence but had never tried it out until now.   Continue reading
