Congee Queen (Thornhill)

Located at 2930 Steeles Avenue East in Thornhill

I’ve blogged about other Congee Queen locations quite a few times now.  If you don’t know what they serve, go read my other blog posts!  Haha.  But really, Congee Queen is a Chinese restaurant that serves affordable, high-quality Chinese food in dishes like congee, noodles, rice, and more.  They have a huge terrific menu that you can choose from.   Continue reading

Korean Fried Chicken at The Fry (Bloor/Bathurst location)

plate of Green Onion Chicken

The Fry located at 524 Bloor Street West in Toronto

I love going with big groups to eat at new places like The Fry!  Julie organized 11 people to try out her favourite Korean fried chicken restaurant (also known for fun as the “other KFC”).  The Fry has three locations and their Bloor and Bathurst location is the newest to open up (their two other locations are the North York and Sheppard and Cummer location).   Continue reading

Sweet Note Desserts [Defunct]

Located at 505 Highway 7 East, Unit 61-63 in Markham

Nicole, Ron, and I visited Sweet Note Desserts on a Thursday afternoon to hang out and to try the desserts.  I’ve heard of Sweet Note before and have passed by their storefront many times when I’ve eaten at the Commerce Gate Plaza (King Dragon Cuisine, Donburi, Shaanxi).  This was my first time trying them out!

Walking into the dessert shop, it was actually so much more spacious than I expected it to be. There was a lot of open space where there were tables and chairs with the cutest homemade lollipop centre pieces.   Continue reading

Dinner at Queen Mother Cafe

Located at 208 Queen Street West in Toronto

Sophia and I met up to catch up after over four years of not having seen each other!  It was so fun to talk about just anything and realize that we actually have a ton of things in common.  So cool!  Most of all, our biggest commonality lies in us both being adventurous foodies!   Continue reading

Who am I? An INFJ

This is me, June 2015

It seems like a lot of people enjoyed my Introversion post from the other day.  Good!  I’m glad that more people understand who I really am now and that more people can identify with introverts because there is a smaller population of us in the world versus extroverts.

In the same stream of thinking about “who am I?” recently and wanting to be more in tune with myself, I also came across the 16Personalities test a day after I wrote the post.   Continue reading

Dinner at B&B Cafe Restaurant

Located at 50 Bur Oak Avenue, Unit C9 in Markham

After sharing some yummy snacks at our weekly meeting, we went to B&B Cafe restaurant to have some grub.  It’s an unassuming Chinese restaurant that also serves HK-style food in addition to dinner.  It’s located in the plaza at Bur Oak and Kennedy and is a small family restaurant.   Continue reading

Lunch at Ithaca Greek Mediterranean Restaurant

Located at 5308 Highway 7 East in Markham

We used to play badminton every Sunday afternoon, but slowly, our core group started to die out and now our Sunday afternoons are replaced with other activities.

We reunited here recently for brunch!  It was so nice to catch up again, especially after many of us had been travelling around the world.   Continue reading

Ice Cream at The Big Chill

Located at 566 College Street in Toronto

Apparently, The Big Chill‘s been around for over a decade and is an old fixture in the College and Bathurst area in downtown Toronto.  After an amazing meal at DaiLo (you need to try this place!), we headed for dessert here.  It was a chilly night but it was warm inside this ice cream parlour.

The Big Chill looked like an old-fashioned ice cream parlour and they are distinctively decorated with cow-themed merchandise all over the place.   Continue reading

Introversion — that’s me

Every person is unique

Maybe it’s time for a little reflection post.  I hope everyone has been enjoying my daily foodie posts, restaurant reviews, and occasional travel flashback posts (more are coming and I’m still backlogged).

Summer time is here and that means there are more events on the horizon.  It’s great to socialize but it tires me out.  I really dislike small talk even though I like getting to know a person.  I thrive best in one-on-one settings.  I can only focus on one person talking at a time.   Continue reading

Weekly Photo Challenge: Off-Season

Blue Mountain, Collingwood. June 2013

The theme for this week’s Photo Challenge is difficult!  There’s only one thing that “off-season” makes me think of and there’s no room to really be creative around this theme unless your ideas are kind of arbitrary.   Continue reading
