Weekly Photo Challenge: Cover Art

Carribean cruise.  April 2014

This week’s photo challenge is definitely creative.  It asks us to choose a photo that we would like to feature as the cover if we were to publish a book or album.   Continue reading

O.Noir — dining in the dark

Located on 620 Church St in Toronto

Betty and I tried out O.Noir.  This restaurant has been talked about for ages and has been on my to-eat list for ages too.  When I spotted a Groupon being offered, I immediately took the chance to purchase it.

We arrived on a weekday evening, having called in to book a table for the second seating at 8:15 p.m.  Continue reading

Xin Jiang Restaurant

Located at 3636 Steeles Avenue East in Markham

In the spot where Xin Jian Restaurant is, there used to be a small and quaint Taiwanese restaurant.  Xin Jian Restaurant has now taken over that spot and serves Chinese food of the Shanxi lamb and kebob variety, much similar to what Magic Noodle serves.  I tried out this restaurant with my mom.  The food is authentic.   Continue reading

Panera Bread (Hwy 7 & Warden‏ location)

Located at 3987 Hwy 7 in Markham

I love being able to have breakfasts with friends whenever I want!  That’s the perk of owning your own business and/or working as a court reporter.  Cynthia and I enjoyed a casual and relaxing breakfast at Panera Bread (Hwy 7 and Warden location) which is close to a Whole Foods supermarket.   Continue reading

ACYE Sushi at Yang’s Kitchen

Located at 4261 Regional Rd 7 in Markham

The first time I went to Yang’s Kitchen for all-you-can-eat sushi was for Justin’s farewell dinner several years ago when he was leaving Toronto to go to Asia.  I’ve always had a fond memory of the food we had there that night — the sushi was absolutely delicious!   Continue reading

Pho Viet at Warden and Steeles‏ [Defunct]

Located at 7010 Warden Ave. Unit 17 &18 in Markham

The other week, a bunch of us had finished some amazing training by the millionaire with the name of Keith Doyle and welcome another friend into our team — it was an amazing weekend to say the least.  Six of us dined together at Pho Viet.  Even though a few of us had just had pho that morning, it was a good option of all the rest of the restaurants at the Warden and Steeles plaza.   Continue reading

Go For Tea (Midland & McNicoll)

Located at 3700 Midland Avenue, Unit 115 in Scarborough

Go For Tea is a bubble tea and Taiwanese food house where you can chill with friends for drinks and food.  I’ve been to Go For Tea a couple of times before but haven’t blogged about it (it’s not yet on my “map”), so here it is!   Continue reading

Pho 88 (North York)

Located at 5197 Yonge Street in North York

After our Basic 5 training, in which 4 hours passed by like a snap — Keith Doyle trains so flawlessly and makes everything so fun — we went for lunch around the North York Centre area.  Lawrence was in the mood for some pho, so off the Pho 88 we went.   Continue reading

Weekly Photo Challenge: Refraction

Opening of the ROM, Toronto. June 2007

When lining up to get into the new ROM building back then in 2007, we took a picture of the crystal windows that reflected the scene from the street in downtown Toronto.  That’s what this week’s photo challenge led me to in my treasure trove of photos.  🙂 Continue reading

Hokkaido Ramen Santouka in Toronto

Located at 91 Dundas St East in Toronto

October 2014:  I’m a little late on completing the ramen craze that’s landed in Toronto, but here I am reviewing Hokkaido Ramen Santouka!

Jessica and I dined here on a Thursday night and the line-up was huge!  There was construction going on outside the restaurant at the time so it was amusing to me that everyone lining up stood on top of a wooden plank.

Luckily, Jessica was here early and we got a spot in a small yet cozy seating area (thank you, Jessica!).  Continue reading
